TEACHER GRANTS THAT WERE AWARDED IN 2024
When teachers can use their grants to add dynamic new possibilities in the classroom,
everybody wins.

The New Milford Education Foundation's Teacher Grants are paying off in student educational experiences. As educators spend the funding they received from NMEF, students are being provided academic opportunities above and beyond the quality education already offered at the New Milford School District.

Grant For New Scoreboard
Picture
Joseph Ricciardelli - requested a new score board for the gymnasium at NMHS.   The current scoreboard will be moved to David E. Owens. With tremendous support the NMEF is proud to present this grant, for the new scoreboard, worth $10,000.
Kindergarten Chicken Hatch - For the third year in a row, NMEF has sponsored a chick hatching teacher grant at Berkley.  All four kindergarten classes received a dozen fertilized eggs, incubators, heat lamps and care kits with food and hay when the chicks hatch.  The students were lucky to witness 33 chicks hatch, the most we have had so far.

Jamie McHugh - requested materials to make sensory bins for her IBC grades 2-5 students at BF Gibbs School.  Some of the items purchased were Playdoh. , wooden puzzles, Bingo, magnetic blocks, and stress balls.
Kayleigh Orocchi - requested an additional life saving AED (automatic external defibrillator) to have stored closer to the football field.  This portable system will also be able to travel to games where there may not be an AED on hand or can be used as an extra one if needed.
This model AED uses simple audio and visual commands and prompts the user, usually a bystander in how to shock a patient suffering from certain types of cardiac arrest.
Additionally NMEF procured a second AED at the start of the 2024 school for Mr. Ricciardelli, the Athletic Director.
