NVE Bank Donation Makes Culinary Arts Program Renovation Possible
The NMEF is grateful for the generous donation from NVE Bank. Their $10,000 donation enabled the District to begin a state of the art renovation of New Milford High School's Culinary Arts room. Because of their generosity, the NMEF and the NM school district were able to come up with the balance of the funds needed to complete the project. The District and the NMEF are so happy that the students can have a new, clean space to learn culinary arts.
The Culinary Arts program is headed by Ruth Beiner. In addition to the culinary arts program, the facility is used by other groups for special events. The NM Student Council recently used the facility to host a sandwich making contest. The facility is also used to host an annual lunch for senior citizens.
The renovation replaced equipment that was there for decades. Some of the changes included replacing the old appliances with new stainless steel models. The cabinets were retrofitted with new counter tops and updated with stainless steel hardware. The renovation also included replacing the sinks and faucets.
